John Pryor
Co-founder of Speed Power Play, and one of the architects of its methodology.
John is a strength-and-conditioning coach and one of the architects of the Speed Power Play methodology. He holds a Master of Health Science in biomechanics from Southern Cross University.
From 2012 to 2015 he was strength-and-conditioning coordinator for the Japan national rugby team, where his training approach underpinned Japan’s defeat of South Africa at the 2015 Rugby World Cup — still widely regarded as the greatest upset in the sport’s history.
He has worked across Australian rugby — the Brumbies, Waratahs and Wallabies — as a strength-and-speed specialist and senior S&C coach with Rugby Australia, and is director of the JointAction Group. His work is rooted in biomechanics, physiology and motor-learning research, applied with a strong emphasis on specificity. He is a former track-and-field athlete in the throws and sprints.
